Strengthen U.S. Engagement Abroad

The United States should continue to export good governance, and help uphold anticorruption measures around the world.

THE ISSUE

As the world’s largest economy and a founding force behind the modern multilateral system, the United States has a unique ability—and responsibility—to lead the global fight against corruption. Home to the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the United Nations, the U.S. holds a central role in shaping the financial architecture and standards that influence economies worldwide. Its leadership sets the tone for how integrity, transparency, and accountability are prioritized in international development and finance.

Transparency International U.S., in collaboration with the global TI network, works closely with the U.S. Administration, Congress, and U.S. delegations to these institutions to advance a robust, U.S.-led anti-corruption agenda. We advocate for high-integrity global financing, strong enforcement of anti-corruption agreements, and the adoption of model transparency benchmarks across international platforms.

In an increasingly interconnected world, U.S. engagement abroad is not only a matter of diplomacy—it is a strategic tool for building more resilient markets and a more accountable global order.
